Venus or Aphrodite is the mythological Godess of Love and Beauty. The Sign which contains the planet Venus in your birth chart indicates the way you seek to give and receive affection and love. Venus attains her desires by attracting, like the flower attracts the bee with its color and sweet nectar, to lure it into acting as the agent of its fertilization.

In any person's birth horoscope (also called the "birth chart"), Venus will be in one of the twelve signs of the zodiac, but cannot be more than two signs away from the sign of the Sun in their birth chart. Venus takes an average of one month to travel through a sign.

Unlike the Sun, which moves about one degree per day, the planet Venus appears to move slower or faster across the zodiac at different times, and sometimes appears to reverse direction (called "retrograde motion"). There is no regular motion, so the dates when Venus is located in a certain Sign can not be found from a simple table of dates like the ones used for Sun Signs. Your Venus Sign is found by calculating your unique birth chart for the actual time of your birth.

Many people know their "sign", which means their Sun Sign, but don't know their Venus Sign. You can also use your Sun Sign to check out your "flirting style" for now, since what is said below about Venus will also apply to some lesser extent for your Sun Sign. Flirting with Venus

Your Venus Sign shows the strategy you prefer to use to attract love or affection, or friends or lovers. You might call this the "love style" for your Venus Sign. If you are a woman, you might call it your "womanly wiles". I call it your "flirt mode".

Each Venus Sign has a separate strategy, which can come into play quite unconsciously sometimes; such as when a woman is in the presence of attractive males or something she wants to have. She may flirt in a certain way which uses the strategies of that Sign, or act in a certain way to GET her way. For flirting or for finagling, she'll use the same set of strategies to "attract" what is desired. And so will a man, unless he chooses to go with a more active or aggressive Mars energy to "attain" his desires using his Mars Sign style.
