The average American adult male consumes about 2600 calories per day, and the average adult female consumes about 1900 calories per day. There are approximately 3,500 calories of energy stored in one pound of body fat. So if you burn an extra 3,500 calories, you will use up one pound of fat. Normally, burning that number of calories would require a significant amount of activity or exercising.
While we are talking about calorie intake, note that a woman should be eating LESS food per day than a man of the same height and weight, and even less if she has a smaller body. So when a woman is served a "man-sized" portion in a restaurant and eats it all, she will be eating TOO MUCH food. Ladies, you need to learn to "Just say no!" to that excess food on your plate, and leave part of it uneaten. Would you rather have that excess food to go into the trash bin - or onto your hips?
In this double blind scientific study, the people who were taking the Hoodia extract were eating 1,000 fewer calories of food per day, without feeling hungry. So we can conclude that...
- If they did that for just three and a half (3.5) days, they would have consumed 3,500 less calories (3.5 x 1000).
- That would be equivalent to losing one pound of body fat - without any extra exercising. This is because their bodies would then have to get that 3,500 calories of energy from stored fat, instead of that food they had not eaten. And it would take one pound of fat to produce 3,500 calories of energy.
It's a simple equation... consume less food and calories, and your body will have to use up its stores of excess fat to supply those calories missing from your diet.
Your body needs a certain amount of energy to survive each day, and the energy is measured in "calories". When there is not enough food intake to supply that energy, your body burns stored fat to supply the basic amount of energy it needs each day. The number of calories required to produce this minimum energy for your body to function for one day is referred to as your basal metabolic rate.
The other side of that equation is... consume more energy by exercising, and your body will have to burn stored fat to supply the extra energy for that extra activity. Eating less AND exercising more is the best way to lose weight, but if you are not able to get more exercise, then eating less will still work.
Thus Hoodia Gordonii may be the simplest and most effective way to achieve calorie reduction and weight loss without feeling hungry or having to engage in strenuous exercise.

If you cause your body to lower its metabolism (basal metabolic rate), then when you return to "eating normally" that same amount of food will now be "too much food" and you will start gaining weight because you are now eating more food than your body requires per day.
