Princess Diana - An Inspiration
Princess Diana Tribute
Mother Teresa
An Ideal, an Idealist, an Inspiration
I personally felt many rushes of emotion as I watched the events of Princess Diana's passing unfold on television and in the news media. At times it was sorrow for the loss of this great lady who extended such compassion and caring to the people society forgot to care for, or could not love. But mostly it was an overpowering response to the Love which Diana inspired in so many of us.
This feeling came to such a focus at her death that Love came forth from the peoples of the world in the form of spontaneous outpourings of admiration, empathy and devotion towards Diana, and genuine concern and caring for her two bereaved young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. During the time of the funeral preparations and during the funeral procession and services, this Love which Diana inspired came forth in the form of good will towards our fellow human beings who shared our feelings of sadness over Diana's loss, as empathy for the family of Diana who mourned her passing, and as a bittersweet resonance to the beautiful words and music expressed during the funeral service at Westminster Abbey.
Then, in the days following Diana's burial, this Love continued to come pouring from our hearts as we were moved to give of ourselves in some way to those who Diana cared for, to those forgotten souls who most needed Love and care. With Charity in our hearts, we pledged our support and donated our money to funds and foundations established to help the less fortunate. We wanted to do as we had seen Diana do, as she had seen her friend and inspiration, Mother Teresa, do. These great humanitarians devoted themselves to extending Love to the people in this world who needed it most, when others would not, or could not. They saw humans whose condition looked different as sharing the same Spirit, worthy of the same care and compassion, consideration and respect, as those who seemed the same.
In Princess Diana and Mother Teresa we saw something great, something beyond the ordinary, in how they lived and how they loved. Yet perhaps the thing we most admired them for doing is something we could so easily do ourselves, each and every one of us. We could give of ourselves. We could devote some time to visiting someone who needed some attention, someone to talk to, some encouragement, or simply a smile. We could volunteer our time or talents in service to others in need, share some of our prosperity with those in poverty, support a cause, or speak up for those who need someone to take a stand. We could do these things, whether we are a privileged princess or a poor nun, an ordinary worker, or an owner of wealth.
We could so easily step outside our separateness, as these great ladies did. We could try to see someone as similar, not unfamiliar. We could see past physical appearance and sense a kindred spirit. We could serve a greater good rather than serve only ourselves. We could do what they did, what they inspired us to do. We could be like them, and we knew it in our hearts that we could, if only we would.

A Tribute to Princess Diana, Compassionate Cancerian
This week's Cancer horoscope forecast is dedicated to the memory of a beloved Lady whose essence exemplified many of the best qualities of her Sun Sign of Cancer. I believe the World would agree the words "caring, compassionate, sensitive, actively emotional, nurturing, protective, patriotic, family-loving, and mothering" aptly describe "The Princess of the People" and "Queen of Hearts" - Lady Diana Spencer, the Princess of Wales.
With her Moon in Aquarius, Princess Diana also demonstrated some of the best qualities of the Sign of Aquarius in her feelings and emotional attachments: "humanitarian, idealistic, independent, individualistic, tolerant, accepting the differences in people, egalitarian, sociable, forming friendships, daring to be different, willing to experiment, innovative, forming alliances for common causes".
With Sagittarius Rising in her birth horoscope, Diana's appearance and "style" exhibited some of the best traits of the Sign of Sagittarius: "cheerful, outgoing, optimistic, spirited, warm, friendly, fascinated by foreign people and places, accepting of "foreign" ideas and ideals, adventuresome, fun-loving, willing to take risks, willing to speak the truth, far-thinking, visionary, philosophical, good sense of humor, good-humored, good-natured".
Thank you, Lady Di, for blessing us all with your beautiful spirit. In life you loved the World, and at your loss the World learned how much you were loved. You inspired in us the things we wished we could be and do, and we loved you for it. Most of all, we responded to the Beauty, Truth, Caring, and Compassion we saw in you and your actions, those aspects of Love which resonated to the Love within ourselves and joined our hearts to you, and to each other.
Lady Diana, "Princess of the People" and "Queen of Hearts", may your memory remain a reminder of the Love we shared, and the Love that we can share with all our neighbors all over the world. You truly were a Princess, being in so many ways the symbol of an ideal and an inspiration to the people of the world.
You loved and you were loved. There is no greater tribute than that to a life well lived.
Good-bye, "England's Rose" - may your memory live in our minds, and may your Love grow in our hearts!©1997 September 1 by Michael Star
Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa died peacefully the same week as Princess Diana, after a long and fruitful life. She was born with Sun in Virgo, and with three other "personal planets" in Virgo. Her long life dedicated to serving others in a useful, practical, "down-to-earth" way exemplified the best qualities of the Earth Sign of Virgo: service to others, humility, practicality, purity, cleanliness, health-consciousness, sense of order, sense of duty, diligence, dedication, and devotion. We mourned her passing, for she will not be with us now. Nor will she continue her great work and show us how to love one another as she always said Christ wanted us to.
We cannot feel sad for Mother Teresa, for her life was long and it was her time to leave in peace. But we felt sad for ourselves, because we felt we had lost a sainted soul who was always there to show us how to love one another and help one another. She was "Mother" to her nuns, and to millions of us. She was the kind of loving mother we always wanted, or wanted to be. We miss our Mother Teresa, as we would miss our own mother. But like a mother who raises her children to take care of themselves, Mother Teresa trained thousands of devoted followers who will carry on with her great work. And we can carry on with her lessons in Love, by remembering how she showed us that a life of loving service to our fellow man is a life worth living. It was a life that was rewarded with love and longevity, and even with fame and good fortune, though Mother Teresa did not seek to have fame or wealth or power.
Though Mother Teresa took a vow of poverty, died with few personal possessions, worked without pay, and did not seek publicity or promotion; she could easily be regarded as having become one of the most famous people on Earth, one of the richest in resources to accomplish whatever she chose to do, and one of the most respected and powerful people in the eyes of the rich and famous and powerful people who honored her, in her life and at her death. She was a living example of the Power of Love.
The Spirit of Mother Teresa, whom we knew in our hearts was a Saint in the truest sense of the word, lives on in her good work carried on by the Order she established. Her loving Spirit lives on in the Love she inspired in us. Her humble but beautiful Spirit lives on in the lesson she never tired of teaching through her enduring example of concern and care for others: we must love one another.
If Mother Teresa could care for and love a leper, can we learn to love our neighbor?
The Power of Love
Can you think of any two people of our time who were more widely known, or more loved by the world, than these two wonderful women? They loved those who needed Love the most, and the world loved these lovers. There is no power on Earth greater than the Power of Love, and perhaps the lives of this wealthy, beautiful Princess and this humble, hardworking Nun will inspire us all to seek Love and not Money, and to extend Love and not Fear towards our fellow human beings. We are all One, and we have felt this in our hearts as we wept together for the loss of these ladies who lived to "love thy neighbor as thyself".
May God bless you, Mother Teresa and Princess Diana, as you have blessed us!
