Do Opposite Signs Attract?

In assessing Sign Compatibility opposite or "opposing" signs are a special case. They're not really "exact" opposites, but "complementary" opposites - meaning they "complete" each other. They have qualities which are similar in "function" but opposite in "execution", so to speak.

It's like two people who pull on opposite ends of a rope - they may pull in opposite directions, but at least it's on the same rope! They keep each other in balance because, even though they challenge each other, they do it along the same lines. There is something in common, even if it is approached in different ways. You can learn a lot from "the opposition".

When your Sun Sign is in the Sign which is opposite another person's Sun Sign, you are "complementary opposites". What you lack, they may have. And what they lack, you may have. This can create a kind of "mutual admiration" and attraction, and can make you two a strong "team" in business or marriage.

"Similarity" creates "comfort"; while "differences" add interest and excitement, and also "challenges" which offer the best opportunity for personal growth. It is said that "opposites attract" - and it's true for zodiac signs too!

People born six months apart have their Sun in the opposite Sign; and those born very close to 183 days apart will have the Sun itself nearly opposite the other's, which means an even stronger attraction! (Moon opposite Sun is even better!)

The Sun Sign which is opposite to your Sun Sign will be of the same Quality (Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable). This means the two Signs will share some traits in common. Your opposite Sign will also be in a different but compatible Element (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water). This means there will be some differences to make it "interesting", but also enough similarities to make it fairly "comfortable".
